Playing Modes
What is Lexulous live
Lexulous is an easy word game. You have to make words with the letters given in your rack and place them cleverly on the board to get the maximum number of points. You can check out a demo without registering. Lexulous Live is the online version of the game in which you play with friends or other users inside rooms.
The email or asynchronous version
In case you don't have a lot of time or cannot be online at the same time as your friend (who might be in a different time zone), then try the email version. It allows you to play a word, notifies your opponent, and then you need to wait for, say, a day before they play their move (you will be notified when they make a move). This is how the game goes on, and usually lasts 3-7 days. You can play as many games simultaneously as you want.
The practice mode and Lex robot
To get a feel for the game or to practice and improve your skills, check out the solitaire mode. There, you can plaay by yourself or against Lex, our robot. You can choose from 10 skill levels, play timed or untimed games, and even save games.

Common Problems
Blank screen and freezing
If you get a blank screen after clicking on a room, you probably need to install Java on your computer. Most computers already come with Java pre-installed, but in case you don't have it, visit Java.com to get the latest version, it's free.

In case your browser / game freezes, check if you have the latest version of Java or not. Also, if you use a wireless connection, stay as close to the router as possible and keep your laptop motionless. If you cannot enter a room, unfreeze your account and then try.
No board in the email version
This is due to the Flash player not available on your computer. Please download and install the latest version of Flash and then give it a try.
Not getting any emails
Sometimes emails from Lexulous may be marked as spam by your email service provider. Please make sure you check your spam / junk folder carefully. If you still don't get emails from us, please let us know and we shall take a look.
Wireless or network connections
If you are using a wireless router or are on a network, you must enable the TCP ports 24000-24100. As each setup is unique you must contact the person who setup the system for information on how to enable ports.

Dictionary | Ratings
The US and UK wordlists
US and Canadian users prefer the US list while users from other countries generally use the UK wordlist, which has more acceptable words. You have separate ratings for both lists.
Your ratings explained
All new users start with a rating of 1800. This is the average rating. If you defeat players rated higher than you, then you get more points than if you defeat a player who is rated below you (and vice-versa). A highly skilled player is usually rated around 2400. Please note, that rating changes fluctuate a LOT for new users. You must play at least 60 games to let them stabilize.
Quitting and how to resume games
If your opponent quits a game when losing by 50 or more points, you win the game instantly. In case they quit when losing by less points than 50, then the game will be stored for 3 days during which they will have the option to resume and complete the game. After 3 days, you will automatically get the win. In case your opponent quits when leading by 50 points or less, the game will be aborted. If the lead is more than 50 points, the game will be adjourned for 3 days before being aborted.

To resume a stored game, simply match your opponent and instead of a new game, the adjourned game shall start automatically. To match, click on the players tab at the top, right click on your opponent and Match.
